cuticle oil

I have posted about this miracle oil previously and if you do not already use cuticle oil, you really should start.  Dab a small amount on your fingertip and rub it into each cuticle at least once a day, especially after your hands have been in water.  The oil makes your dry, rough, ragged cuticle into soft and supple cuticles like magic.  It even helps prevent your nails from peeling.  If you have experienced peeling nails, you know exactly why you should start using this oil.

This version is made with jojoba oil, vitamin e, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, and grapeseed oil.  If you prefer, put the oil in an empty nail polish bottle (washed and well rinsed) and apply the oil with the brush included in the bottle.  Personally, I just rub the oil in with my fingertip.  No need to rinse the oil off.  It is quickly absorbed.

Essential Oils

I have really been crazed about all things essential oil lately, even to the fact that I've started to attempt making my own.  Right now, I have four types in the works and I'll be sure to let you know how they come out (including recipes if they work.)  I have a lemon mint oil, chocolate mint oil, honeysuckle oil, and clove oil.  It takes some time for the oil to absorb all the benefits from the plants, so I'm doing my best to be patient while the magic happens.  At least I hope it's happening!

Things I've made recently from essential oils that I have not taken pictures of include a bug repellent and cuticle oil.  The cuticle oil includes jojoba oil, vitamin E, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil and grapefruit oil.  Not only does it smell good, but using the small amount every day keeps your nails from peeling.  A small bottle of it lasts forever.  Let me know if you'd be interested in buying a jar of it!

Nail talk

I feel like I'm a failure when it comes to painting nails.  I never can seem to get the slick, sleek polish that seems so easy for so many people.  Heck, I'm not even looking for a fancy paint job!  I just don't want to appear as if I let a toddler slop paint all over the tips of my fingers.  I think my nails are small (narrow) and so it seems a lot of the brushes are too big (or that's my excuse) and I hate paint on my cuticles. So, are there any products you use or recommend that give you the best paint job?   I'd love to know any tricks of the trade!

In other nail news, I started using a cuticle oil on my nails.  A friend recommended it during a recent visit.  Swears that regular use promotes strong, healthy nails that won't peel!  I'm on day three or so of use, and it smells like wonderful mangos.  I'll let you know how it works and will post a picture in a recent post.  Has anyone else tried cuticle oil?  If so, let me know your results or the type you recommend.

In the next hour or so, I'm going to attempt a homemade sugar scrub.  Results will be posted as soon as I'm done with them!

Update 5/20/14- Here is a link I found to an article on why to use cuticle oil.  I thought some of you might be interested.
